Step 1: Assess Your Existing Coal Plant Infrastructure

The first step is conducting a thorough assessment of your current coal power plant infrastructure. This includes evaluating:

  • The age and condition of your coal generators, turbines, and other key equipment – Older equipment may need upgrading or replacing to integrate solar. Newer equipment could potentially be repurposed.

  • Space availability – There needs to be sufficient vacant land onsite or nearby to install solar arrays. Rooftop solar is also an option.

  • Connection to transmission lines – Ensure access to transmission lines to feed solar power to the grid.

  • Energy demand – Analyze past and projected energy demand so your new solar plant can meet capacity.

  • Testing and inspection – Thoroughly test all equipment and have city inspectors review prior to final interconnection.

  • Interconnection – With testing passed, interconnect your solar plant to local transmission grid.

  • Commissioning – Commission, startup and monitor your solar plant to ensure smooth, optimized operation.
