It’s Pumpkin Time And Does Your Family Read Your Blog?

Fall is one of our favorite times of the year and I love it when it is time for pumpkins and sweet potatoes and gorgeous mums.                                  When I was younger this is what the pumpkins looked like but now

                                   They look like this

                                  and this

and this!                                   Also the mums this year are just gorgeous and only $7.00 for these huge plants!

You know even with all of the varieties of pumpkins I still think the standard orange ones are my favorites. Which kind of pumpkins do you like best?

You know I started this blog about three years ago to go along with our Eco Natural business. When I was researching about how to go about this blogging journey I read where a lot of people were saying not to tell your family about your blog. The reasons were really varied but most were saying that their family members were judgmental of things they wrote. When we were still living in California one of our nieces started a blog and asked me to check it out. I read every post she wrote but didn’t know how to do the comment thing. When we moved back to Tennessee we had another niece start a blog and I would read and comment on each one of her posts so I told them both about my blog. One of them read my blog for the first few months but now as far as family goes just Alan and our children read it. I really kind of like it that way. Does your family read your blog and if so do you like for them to?

Don’t forget to leave the link to your blog when you comment so I can easily visit you back!

If you have arthritis or joint pain you should check out our Joint Pain Relief at  Eco Natural  Also check out our new Spearmint Lavender Soap. It smells amazing! We have several new formulas coming out this week. I am especially excited about the wrinkle balm!

My Mum reads mine and I’m not sure I like that really! I tend to tame what I might say ;) but I have another one she doesn’t know about – haha! Not sure about pumpkins; I don’t like them to eat – can’t bear the things, but I love the seeds and the sight of them in the fields…

Love seeing the pumpkins, means the cooler weather is here! I love Autumn, and my favorite pumpkins are the good old orange ones. My family, they laugh at me when I take pictures of their food, but they pretty much don’t read the blog. But they do like the benefits of the home cooking from it though :)

My family definitely reads my blog! :)

aah! i was reading this post and realized i never wrote back- i saved your email and then i was so busy last week and i forgot!

  • Mike Sarah

My mom reads our blog. I don’t think his family even knows about the blog. I have a co-worker (that I trust) that reads our blog. I don’t mind family reading it, of course if my gramma was to read it she would probably post something about the way Mike or I worded something instead of telling us that the food looked great or she couldn’t wait to try something. Different generation I suppose. I have shared the blog with my family’s facebook page but not sure if anyone has even seen it. I think I kind of like just having strangers read and comment. It makes me realize that others see our blog and that is exciting to me. :)

I love the standard big orange pumpkins. Perfect for carving. Then again I like all the crazy shaped ones, bumpy, different colors and sizes for decorating purposes. I adore fall, that and Spring are my favorite Seasons, though Christmas is my favorite holiday. :) I’m excited to bust out my decorations this weekend!

I’m with you … I like the orange pumpkins. :-) I don’t believe that my family reads my blog … they did in the beginning but then I think they got bored with the whole thing. Actually, when I knew for sure that they were reading, it was harder to write … I found myself filtering things for them. I’m not really sure why that happens … they’ve heard me say all of it before and they know my thoughts on most everything I write about but still … my writing changed and felt restricted. The other aspect of it for me is that I was disappointed when my family and friends were less than supportive … they didn’t (and haven’t) participated in challenges or left comments. Of course, I’ve always been the “granola girl” to them, doing things a bit different and caring about things that seem rather “hippy-ish” to them. And I guess that they see my blog as an extension of that “odd” person. The truth is that it’s sometimes hard to hear things from family members … so maybe reading my blog isn’t the best way to teach them about living green … and maybe I wouldn’t be able to fully accept their thoughts if they did leave comments.

My kids do and I’m totally good with that. My extended family does not, and I’m totally good with that too! ;)

The Mums are beautiful this year, even in our part of the US. LOL… Does my family read my blog….. They won’t touch it because I post some pretty gross stuff. Everyone just kind of stays away from it and that is fine with me. If I ask my Husband or Daughter to read a post they will do that but they know if they click on to much, they will get into the gross posts.

My mom and my sister-in-law both read my blog, but I have now idea if anyone else does! I don’t keep it a secret, but I don’t really advertise it either.

And I so need to buy mums soon! Need to get the house looking autumn-y to match this gorgeous weather!!

Love all your pumpkin images, can’t believe it’s that time again! I don’t think my family has read my blog in the 7 years since I started it, and it’s fine–haha.

You know, I like the crazy, weird-colored, lumpy pumpkins! I think they have character and are really interesting. Only one member of my family reads my blog, it’s kind of weirdly private in that I only have internet strangers read it :)

  • Ms. A

I don’t remember seeing white pumpkins when I was younger, only in recent years. I guess they were always around and I just wasn’t aware of it.

My immediate family subscribes to my blog via email. (I had to make them do it) They don’t really give two hoots, but occasionally they mention it.

  • Cafe Fashionista

Oh, I so need to start stocking up on pumpkins – I absolutely love them!! :)

  • Carolyn Jung

OMG, pumpkins already?!? How can it be? This year is just zooming by.

  • Rosemary H

Oh I just love pumpkins Alicia, I always grow way too many. There are so many different varieties these days.
My family will look from time to time on my blog for the pictures but that’s about it. ;)
Hope your enjoying autumn so far.
    Hugs Rosemary…xoxo

My husband knows about my blog, but he doesn’t read it on a regular basis. No one else knows about it and I like it that way. It’s easier for me to say what I’m thinking without worrying about what someone thinks. Plus, I feel more comfortable sharing with people I don’t know versus people I do know.

love all the pumpkins :-) and will publish a pic would still be good he he

  • Jordan@the2seasons

Wow what a great price on the mums. I am going to head out today to get some for my window boxes. Some of our family reads the blog. I know my dad and brother read every post. My husband said he lives my post so he doesn’t read every one.

  • http://cherylbarker.blogspot.com/ Cheryl Barker

I agree — orange pumpkins are the best! :) Just two or three of my family members read my blog on any kind of regular basis. I would love for all my family to read, though. To me, reading a family member’s blog is just one more way we can show love and support and be involved in their lives.

In Maine last weekend I saw some lovely pumpkins too. My French mom in law was blown away.

I know! I can’t even believe the crazy array of pumpkins they have now! Seriously fun for blogging, but not gonna lie, a little overwhelming! Sometimes more is just *more*, right? (c:

Do ya’ll have any pumpkin candles?

    • http://ecofriendlyhomemaking.com Alicia

We have a pumpkin spice soap but no candles.

They all read and never comment – they love the more gritty silly stuff that’s more like real life

Those $7 plants are the size of my van! Wow!

My daughters (age 22 and 20) read my blog regularly and one sister-in-law and brother check in periodically. Otherwise, I could be posting all kinds of dirty laundry!

  • Jennifer

I guess I kind of like to keep it simple so the regular ol’ orange pumpkins are just fine for me. The others all have their own unique beauty, though, dont they?
My hubby reads my posts, usually before I post them and I think my best friend reads our blog, but no family. At first I was a little disappointed, but it doesnt really bother me anymore. I would love it if more of them read it, though. Enjoy this beautiful season!

  • Leanne @ motherhood inspired

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I must say, my in-laws read my blog and there have been days I wished they didn’t know it exists. I think it’s really nice that they care and take the time to read it, but there are times that it makes me feel self-conscious about what I write!

  • http://andhudsonmakesthree.blogspot.com Ashley {Hudson’s Happenings}

Oh boy! I get so excited over pumpkins!! Last Fall, I was on the hunt for those pretty creamy/white pumpkins (never found them), but now I am back to loving the bright orange ones. :)

As for family and blogging…I think most of my fam reads, but most of them won’t tell me they do or comment. Which I don’t really understand, but oh well. I would be fine if they didn’t read, since mostly I am just writing for Hudson to read when he grows up. I always feel like my family feels obligated to comment or something, but I totally don’t mind if they don’t. It is funny, my real life friends don’t even admit to reading. It’s like they have to be secretive. But I have made so many awesome connections with people, that I don’t mind if my real life friends read or not. (that was a long explanation! SORRY!)

  • Kiersten @ Oh My Veggies

My family reads my blog, although it took me a while to tell everyone. It felt a little weird at first, but now they are my biggest supporters!

  • Amy (Savory Moments)

I’m so excited for pumpkins and all winter squash. I think that some of my family, mostly my husband and mom, read my blog…. but not regularly.

  • http://twitter.com/retrohousewife5 Lisa

Some family members read my blog. My mom for sure, as she comments and is also a blogger. Some family members read with not so nice motives but I’m a very open person so it’s not like anything I’m writing should surprise them.

  • Joanne (eats well with others)

I’m SO excited for pumpkin season!!

    Alicia,
Thanks for stopping by! I think we are finally drawing closer to a decision on the family room… and no my immediate family does not read my blog, a few cousins.. yes but our folks don’t have computers and the siblings are pretty busy. Oddly enough our children have friends who read our blog… and keep them updated on what I write. How weird is that??? Ha Ha!

    Have a wonderful week!
