How Do You Cool Off?

It has really been a very HOT Summer here in Tennessee.I was just thinking about great ways to cool off.

When we lived in California we loved to go swimming in Lake Tahoe. It is such a beautiful lake, The water is so clear ad cool. Great way to cool off on a hot Summer day.

The ocean at Pebble Beach is truly beautiful. It is always rather cool there so we loved going there to cool off as well.

We so enjoyed our pool in California. Some days it might be over 100 degrees but because there is so little humidity it always cooled off nicely in the afternoons.

In California we lived really close to the American River. It is an awesome rafting river and a great way to cool off. The water is always pretty nippy even in the Summer months.I laugh every time I see these pictures because these two guys were really serious about going rafting. In the first picture you can see the raft sliding down and when we stopped at the red light they got out and pushed it back up! Thank goodness the river is just a few feet up the road.

Our grandson Will turned three yesterday and one of his presents was a pool. He really liked cooling off in it.

He also has a slip and slide which is a great way to cool off as well.

What are some of the ways you cool off on a hot Summer day?

Also don’t forget that since I changed my comments to Disqus you need to leave the link to your blog in the comment section so that I can visit you back easily. Thanks!

Don’t forget with all of the outside activities to use an all natural Deet free insect repellent as well as an all natural Sun Blocker like the ones we have at  Eco Natural

We don’t really have access to water we can get into so I put flannels in the freezer and take them out with me to rub along my forehead / back of neck. Not quite as enticing as your ideas!

It’s been just as hot here in west TN. We have a slip n slide for the kids (and sometimes adults) to play in, and a small plastic kiddie pool. Our other favorite way to cool off is water fights with the kids, or just staying inside in the air conditioning. I’m thankful for the rain today! My kids were still playing in the slip n slide this morning as it rained, since it was still warm outside. ;)

    Hi Alicia,
Heat is not our problem this summer (in Seattle). But when it does get hot, a glass of ice water and sitting in front of the fan always helps. Outside, turning on the sprinkler, near a large tree, and sitting in the shade, with the mist spraying over me. But nights can be unbearable. Wet cloths do help. As do midnight cold showers.

Air conditioning is my favorite way but I wouldn’t mind jumping into the pool. If I was young I think I’d like the slip n slide best, LOL, he looks like he is having a blast. The California shots are so pretty.

All the places that you list are so pretty! I haven’t been to Lake Tahoe in years but it looks beautiful! We cooled off this weekend at the beach – the water was freezing but the sun was hot, so it was perfect!

I am so tired of this hot weather. I feel like all I’ve done is sit inside this summer. I can’t get motivated to do anything in the yard at all. I hope fall weather comes soon. BUT, I won’t be able to catch up on the work I haven’t done because fall will bring football weather. (I also really miss the pool we had at our old house.) I like how your grandson cools off. Such a cutie.

  • SizzleandZoom

You’ve convinced me. I’m not using dryer sheets anymore. This is a lovely post.
I cool off by sitting in front of or to the side of a fan. I save on airconditioning
by doing this and I have a fan in everyroom-including the bathroom besides the
    one in the ceiling.WWW.cruisinoversixty.com

Ya gotta feel for those guys who were so determined to get that raft to the waters! Funny! Those water gifts for your grandson were a great idea!

I’m only 5 minutes to the beach and we live on a canal but it’s winter. hand me a sweater?

I turn on the A/C to cool off. LOL OK, I know that’s not real PC. The other way I love to cool off is to quaff something especially refreshing — like watermelon juice. It’s so pretty in the glass, you can’t help but feel cooler, too.

It’s hard to stay cool this summer! Lots of H20 and air conditioning make all the difference for me. :)

I understand about the hot days in TN! What a fun gift for your grandson… this summer I’ve had our little kiddie pool in the yard for the girls to cool off and play… and occasionally I’ve dipped my feet in too. :-) (And I love your bug repellent… I use it all the time!)

Love these photos! Around here, I stay cool by staying inside in the AC! Even the pool is lukewarm.

PS: Regarding the drawing, you should she what she drew for me, for winning the contest!

  • Shelia

Hi Alicia! Oh, what great photos! Love the little one. Well, I’m a sissy and stay indoors mostly with the AC cranked down low. :) It’s so hot and humid here! Hope you’re doing well.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

Nothing beats a dip in a lake on a hot summer day. That is my plan for the weekend!

How sweet your grandson is [a belated happy birthday wish!!!]….my grandsons are 23 and 17!!! Goodness gracious how time flies. The way I cool off [which is quite difficult when outdoors because of the humidity....would be wading in the Gulf waters...OR if indoors, a tall lemonade/or iced tea ---and in front of an air conditioner vent. LOL]

Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a wonderful positive feedback on my Birding Blog.

Kids and pools is always a fun combination! When it’s really hot….we stay inside! But it’s been pretty nice here in FL this summer! I should go to the pool more! Enjoy the week ahead!
