Are You Needing Rain?

Oh my goodness it has been in the triple digits here for the past several days. We have been breaking records here in Tennessee and have been without any rain for several weeks.Looking at the 10 day forecast it doesn’t look like much of any rain is suppose to be here anytime soon!!

We have been watering our gardens to keep them from drying up and when you walk on the grass in our yard it kind of crunches. That is not good! We pray that all of the states that are in such need of rainfall will get some soon.

With all of this heat I have been dreaming of a little bit cooler weather and  and the ocean This is a picture of Big Sir that I took a few years ago when we were there. It would be great to be there now!

This is from one of our trips to Pebble Beach. The ocean is so beautiful there.and the air is always cool!

Are you in an area that is really needing some rain?

    Alicia,

We are finally getting much needed rain in the area north of Indianapolis! The storm front that hit Washington, D.C. originated just a bit west of us so we got rain from it. We had more rain today but are still classified as being in a drought as we had virtually no rain between May 10th and June 30th. I know exactly what you mean about the grass crunching…. ours was just like that. Thankfully the rain since June 30th has really helped. I’ll be praying that you get some rain soon!

We haven’t had a drop in weeks, and with our sandy soil, plants are really beginning to suffer in the heat. None is predicted for the next week either. I hate having to pick and choose which plants get watered—but I can’t do them all. Tomatoes, of course, DO get watered. Can’t be without those!

Over here in the UK we didn’t have a drop all winter and spring – we declared a drought. Over the past 3 months rain has been constant; we’ve had people killed by flooding and hardly a summer day to speak of… It’s pouring down as I type and I have the lights on already because it’s so dark (it’s 9:15 am!!)

We are in need of rain as well and that is so surprising for Syracuse. Last summer we didn’t even touch our rain barrel now it is empty we have used the 70 gallons of water. At least we saved some on the watering.

Good Morning, Alicia! Living in the desert means that we are always in need of rain. (watering the garden once, sometimes twice a day is required in order for the plants to grow at all) We spent the weekend camping in much cooler temperatures and it was heavenly. Although, it does make coming back home to the bone dry weather just that much harder! Here is hoping that we both see some rain soon!

P.S. You won the gift card giveaway to Catching Fireflies! Please email me your contact information so that I can get it to you asap.

Yes, we need rain here in AZ! It is forecast for this week, enough to no doubt spoil the holiday festivities, but we are danderously dry in the Southwest, so we will take it whenever we can get it! I am hopping over from Monday Meet & Greet.
    Huge green hugs,
    Pat

Isn’t this weather freaky? I’ve always said I’m such a poor gardener that our yard is the epitome of natural selection at work: whatever doesn’t survive there doesn’t belong there. But between my inept ministrations and this weather, it’s really a bit much: we desperately need a rain barrel.
Like they say, climate change is not just about the atmosphere heating up: it’s foremost about the atmosphere being extremely freaked out. Makes me more determined to keep the air conditioning off as much as I can.

The waves are always so dramatic there at Pebble Beach and Big Sur. I never tire of that sight.

Up until this week, I’d say we’ve received plenty of rain, but the grass is surely looking parched now. Most of the country is this way, I’m afraid. :(

We’ve had some rain, but the heat is kicking our butt! Hope you get a good drenching, soon. Happy 4th!

Yes, it’s very dry here as well and our grass is crunchy! Your garden is so beautiful. I love it!

Thankfully we have moderate weather here in Southern California. We just finished a month of June gloom so I definitely hope it doesn’t rain!

We definitely need rain! My herbs and lettuce are not happy… It’s been unusually hot and dry here in WNY.

It never rains where I live. The heat is stifling for at least 8 months of the year. Oddly enough, the few times that it does rain, it causes so many disasters – floods and such! :/

It seems like everyone all over the country needs rain! Hope we get a bit soon!

Yep, we need rain, too, in Kansas. Crazy hot and dry here, but that’s not too unusual for us in the summer — though it started a little early this year. Certainly hope it doesn’t keep it up until the end of August now! We like to get a cool shot in the mountains when we can (which doesn’t happen very often!), and late this month we’re going for the first time ever to the Grand Tetons. Can’t wait! :)

Thanks so much for coming by and visiting to Quirky Vistas and leaving me a comment. That’s how I found you. Hope you’ll visit again soon! Love those pictures of the water from above and the waves crashing. Such a beautiful sight. Great photography!

Hope you guys in TN are getting some rain today!! We’re getting our first peek of the wet stuff in quite a while. Whew! Just checked the radar and it showed rain from Nashville to Oxford, MS….we really need it.

We got some rain last night but still low. A “heat dome” is moving in so it may be awhile until we get more.
